Starting on April 1, 2017, Spring StoryWalk® begins
Visit our new spring StoryWalk®, Plant the Tiny Seed, beginning April 1st. The author is one of our favorite returning author's, Christie Matheson. Ms. Matheson is the author of many adult books and magazine articles, but is best known for her interactive children's books. You may remember her from our fall StoryWalk®, Tap a Magic Tree.
In Plant the Tiny Seed, children will help the tiny seed grow into a lovely zinnia in a garden full of buzzing bees, curious hummingbirds, and colorful butterflies, as they wiggle their fingers to water the seeds, clap to make the sun shine after rain, and shoo away a hungry snail. Adding to the fun, they will seek out each page of the story as they walk along the beautiful natural trails of the arboretum. What better way to welcome spring! This StoryWalk® will be available for all to enjoy again and again through June.
If you haven't experienced the StoryWalk concept before, this is an excellent opportunity to explore and build reading confidence in children. StoryWalk® is an innovative approach to encourage people of all ages to get out in nature and read at the same time. The StoryWalk® concept was created by Ann Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and is currently used in 48 states and four countries.
The four season StoryWalks® are free to all and are made possible by the volunteer efforts of the Friends of the Thielke Arboretum, Inc., and through the generous support of Sally and Jim Moran of the Curious Reader Bookstore and Mail &More Inc., both local businesses located on Rock Road in Glen Rock.
Loved the book? Your own copy is available at The Curious Reader. The proprietors always enjoy hearing your StoryWalk® comments, so drop in for a visit with them!
