The Thielke Arboretum, located at 460 Doremus Avenue, Glen Rock, will hold its first Volunteer Day of the Spring season on Saturday,March 29, 2014, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  RAIN DATE APRIL 5th, 9AM- Noon. Are you tired of this long winter and starved for a taste of Spring?  Then, we invite you to join us as we commune with nature and like-minded individuals at this beautiful site located right near downtown Glen Rock.

Volunteers can find a diversity of possibilities to suit their individual preferences, along with the learning experiences of being in an 11-acre fresh water wetlands forest that is a Certified Wildlife Habit.  The Arboretum sports over 100 varieties of trees and shrubs, a spring fed pond, a variety of gardens, and numerous walking trails.

Volunteer opportunities include such tasks as tree care, pond and fountain care, trails maintenance, and garden care.  Do you have a special love for perennials, or perhaps, wildflowers, ferns, or native plants?  Do you want to learn more about trees and what to plant where?  We have them all and you are welcome to choose your favorite sites.   Experienced volunteers are always on hand to explain, demonstrate, and support the efforts of all our volunteers.

Beginning on April 1st, Volunteer Days are held every Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 9 to 12, weather permitting.  The Thielke Arboretum is maintained through the efforts of volunteers.  We suggest you dress in layers in early spring, wear boots or sturdy shoes, bring your gardening gloves, and bring your name-labeled favorite tools, such as trowels, pruners, kneelers, shovels, wheelbarrows, and rakes.  Come join us at the “Arb”, we welcome your help!
