Do you know children who can’t wait until it snows?  This new winter StoryWalk® is about a boy named David who feels exactly the same.

Beginning January 14, 2017,

at 2PM.

You are invited to read our new winter StoryWalk®, Tracks in the Snow, Wong Herbert Yee.

Rain Date: January 15, 2017

Have you ever seen tracks in the snow and wondered who or what made them? Come join us on our Winter StoryWalk®.

This story takes us on an adventure with a young girl who follows some mysterious tracks to discover who or what made them and where they may lead. Do your children love animals?  Within the story, the reader is introduced to a variety of animals scampering through the pages.  The soft whimsical illustrations and simple rhythmic text will delight young and old alike.  Follow author/illustrator Yee's beautiful illustrations and accompanying words on display on the trees, page by page, along one of the arboretum's lovely winding paths.  What better place to enjoy winter, nature, and good children's literature than at the arboretum!

The StoryWalk® will remain up all winter, so come and revisit it many times.  Who knows what tracks you may find there, especially after it snows!

If you haven't experienced the StoryWalk® concept before, this is an excellent opportunity to explore and build reading confidence in children.  StoryWalk® is an innovative approach to encourage people of all ages to get out in nature and read at the same time.  The StoryWalk® concept was created by Ann Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and is currently used in 48 states and four countries.

The author, Wong Herbert Yee, is the recipient of several book awards, including the Theodor Geisel Award.  He is the creator of both the Mouse and Mole and Fireman Small book series.  A lover of the creative process, Yee states that he "can think of nothing better than writing and illustrating children's books".

The four season StoryWalks® are free to all and are made possible by the volunteer efforts of the Friends of the Thielke Arboretum, Inc., and through the generous donations of Sally and Jim Moran of the Curious Reader Bookstore and Mail &More Inc., both local businesses located on Rock Road in Glen Rock.   The proprietors always enjoy hearing your StoryWalk® comments, so drop in for a visit with them!
